本展では、最新作の銅版画やドローイングなど「手の中に収まる小さな宝物」のような小さいサイズの平面作品を中心に展示構成しています。また、版画作品の上に緑青や胡粉などで鮮やかな手彩色が施されたシリーズ「rust works」も併せて発表します。伝統的な日本画の世界を意識しながらも、新しい素材の探求や表現方法の変化を模索し、進化を遂げていく三瀬夏之介の新作展をぜひご高覧ください。＜作家の言葉＞
自身の身体性と作品サイズには深い関係がある。 身体を遥かに超えるサイズの絵を描くときは、世界は見渡せないほど広く複雑であるという感覚が反映しているし、両手に収まるほどの絵を描くときは、世界を優しく包み込み、愛でるように眺めたいという感覚が反映している。 今回は「礫宝（れきほう）」と題し、手の中に収まる小さな宝物のような礫（つぶて）を散りばめてみたい。

＜作家紹介＞
三瀬 夏之介
1973年奈良生まれ。1999年に京都市立芸術大学大学院美術研究科絵画専攻（日本画）修了。五島記念文化財団研修員としてフィレンツェに滞在する（2007-2008年）など、国内外のアーティスト・イン・レジデンスにも数多く滞在してきた。初期においては京都や奈良を中心に活動していたが、東北芸術工科大学の教育活動に深く従事するようになり、現在は山形を拠点に制作活動を行っている。2014年より同大学芸術学部美術科の教授を務めている。 ここ数年の主な個展としては、「ぼくの神さま」青森公立大学国際芸術センター青森（青森、2013年）、「日本の絵」平塚市美術館（神奈川、2013年）、「N.E.blood21 Vol.48 三瀬夏之介展」リアス・アーク美術館（宮城、2013年）「三瀬夏之介 ― 雨土の記」浜松市秋野不矩美術館（静岡、2014年）、「三瀬夏之介 風土の記―かぜつちのき―」奈良県立万葉文化館（奈良、2014年）、「日本の絵 ― 執拗低音 ―」京都市美術館別館（京都、2015年）などが挙げられる。2012年に「第5回 東山魁夷記念 日経日本画大賞展 選考委員特別賞」を受賞。 2015年には「ザ・コンテンポラリー1 われらの時代：ポスト工業化社会の美術」金沢21世紀美術館（石川、2015年）に参加するなど、国内外でこれまで数多くの展覧会に参加している。
The exhibit is composed mainly of Mise's latest copperplate prints, drawings, and other small-sized works "like little gems that would fit in the palm of the hand." Also on display are pieces from the "rust works" series. These feature brilliant coloring by hand through application of verdigris, Paris white, and other materials on prints. Please come and see this exhibit of new works by Mise, who continues to explore new materials and methodologies of presentation while remaining in touch with the world of traditional Japanese-style painting.
< Comment by the artist > There is a deep relationship between my own corporeality and the size of my works. When I want to produce a picture with a size far exceeding my body, it reflects my sensation that the world is too wide to see and highly complex. Conversely, when I make a work that can be held in both hands, it reflects my impulse to tenderly embrace the world and lovingly gaze at it. I titled this exhibit "Rekiho" as an indication of my desire to scatter pebbles ("reki") like little gems ("ho") that would fit in the palm of the hand.

< Profile of the artist >
Natsunosuke Mise was born in 1973 in Nara Prefecture, Japan. He completed his graduate studies at Kyoto City University of Arts in 1999. (BFA in Japanese Painting in 1997. MA in Painting in 1999.) He continues to exhibit his art work worldwide, some major group shows including: "In Our Time: Art in Post-industrial Japan", 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa (2015); "ZIPANGU" Takasaki City Museum of Art, Gunma, Hachinohe City Museum of Art, Aomori, Akita Museum of Modern Art, Akita (2013); "VOCA 2009", Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo (2009); "Form, Idea, Essence and Rhythm: Contemporary East Asian Ink Painting", Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taiwan (2008); "MOT annual 2006: No Border", Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo (2006).
