＜＜作家・展覧会紹介＞＞
　
　樋口佳絵は宮城県仙台市に生まれ、現在も同地で制作を続けています。
　いつか何処かで見かけたことのあるような姿の不思議な子供たち。作者の記憶の中で現れては消える、彼らのあどけなくて素直な表情や、時に悲しげでユーモラスな心の一片を魅力的な世界観で描いてきました。
　テンペラと油彩によるペインティングと銅版画を主に発表して来た樋口は、2003年より徐々に木彫の制作にも取り組んできました。　
　「彫る作業は、描く事と違って形が見えるまでの時間がゆっくりと進むのが良い」と話し、新境地での新鮮な喜びに触れながら、一彫り一彫りとノミを進めて行きました。
樋口にとって、この時とらえた「じわりじわりとイメージに近づいていく感触」は、制作のみに関わることではなく、作品のテーマそのものにも大きく関係しています。

　日常の中で経過する時間を意識する事や、それによって生じるゆっくりとした物事の変化は、ややもすると見過ごしてしまいがちですが、そういった微細なものに耳を澄ませる感性こそが樋口佳絵の持つ魅力のひとつです。
　鋭い感性によって切り取られた一瞬一瞬が、登場する子供たちの目線を通して作品へと投影されています。
　
　このたびキドプレスでは新作のペインティングと彫刻数点の展示を予定しております。

<About the Exhibition>
　　Born in the city of Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture, Kae Higuchi still lives and works in her home town.
　　Enigmatic images of children that seem to have been encountered somewhere before. They rise up in the artist's memory, only to disappear again. With an engaging vision, Higuchi depicts the children's ingenuous, guileless expressions and deftly captures their spirit with tinges of both poignancy and humor.
　　While she used to produce mainly paintings in tempera or oil and etchings, she gradually started to try her hand at woodcarvings beginning in 2003.
　　"I like the way it takes some time for the result to emerge with carving, in contrast to painting or drawing," said Higuchi, touching on the fresh joy she felt in the new medium as she chiseled the wood a little at a time. For her, this sensation of taking time and gradually approaching the image is not merely a matter of artistic production; it is also heavily bound up with the very theme of that production.
　　We are liable to be unaware of the passage of time in daily life and to overlook the changes that take place in the process. The sensitivity to open our eyes and ears to such subtleties is an integral part of the appeal of Higuchi's art.
　　The moments captured by her keen sensitivity are projected onto her works, through the gazing eyes of the children appearing in them.
For this exhibit, we at Kido Press plan to display new paintings and several carvings.
